så jag kunde bara inte släppa av friheten Heidi-idén, så jag grep ett par timmar sen fredag kväll och tidigt lördag och kastade det här tillsammans.
Det här är inte en av mina favoritfrihetsprövningar – jag trodde att det kallades “Bourton”, men googling “Liberty Bourton” visade mig något annat, så vem vet vilken som helst. Det var dock ett perfekt val för en muslin, som var 1) exakt rätt vikt, 2) något jag skulle bära om experimentet fungerade, men 3) inte något jag skulle vara väldigt ledsen att förlora om jag hamnade bort det . Jag är ganska säker på att jag köpte det på eBay från någon som var de-stashing, så det var också billigt.
Jag slutade lägga till ca 4,5 tum till mitten av den främre kjolen och på baksidan – de är båda snittade på veckan, så det var inte svårt.
Jag slutade inte fästa det alls – jag avslutade bodice med bias bindande klipp från samma tyg, med hjälp av Dread Pirate Rodgers utmärkta instruktioner. (Den enda svårigheten var att Liberty Lawn är väldigt halt, så det är svårt att markera med en penna – penna drar tyget längs. Jag hamnade med krita, som tenderar att borsta. Suboptimal, runt.)
Jag är inte säker på varför jag visar dig sidovyn, eftersom det här är ett upptagen tryck, kan du förmodligen inte ens se midjesömmen!
På något sätt lyckades jag få samlarna off-center på baksidan; Jag bär det en gång och bestämmer om jag gillar hur klänningen fungerar med samlarna innan jag rippar ut det och gör det igen:
Problem: Bortsett från att få samlarna i ryggen, samlade jag inte hela mitten av kjolen – jag samlades bara mellan pleatmarkeringarna. Jag tror att det skulle se bättre ut med hela sektionen samlades.
Jag ska försöka bära den här klänningen den här veckan, vädret tillåter (ah, som jag skojar, jag bor i Kalifornien nu, det är det mest tillåtna vädret på planeten), och vi får se hur det fungerar. Om det fungerar kommer det att bli fantastiskt – det tar så lite tyg, relativt, att det öppnar mycket frihet och novelty-print möjligheter …
